Y12 Breeder's Cup Yearling Show Training

Garrett was a new hire at Bowen Acres while he was a trainer his sister was a jockey he didn't like to be on the back of the animals but, he did enjoy their company. Garrett had his morning coffee and managed to head out to the stables early and went into the yearling barn where Radiation was. The young colt was sired by Radiance out of Santana's moment. His bloodlines were pure to many being the grandson of Hall of Fame's True Enough. His dam didn't do so well but, his lines were still pretty lovely. Garrett walked into the barn where the three Radiance foals were in the stalls right next to each other.

The three foals were very much the color of their sire Radiation Therapy, Reflected in Water, and Noah's Radiance were all great foals to a great sire. However, Garrett was training Radiation today. The dark bay colt was wanting the down right attention and was ready for his playtime. Garrett had to keep a lock key lock on the stall because the colt knew how to open the stalls smart one he was. He grabbed the lead rope and Radiation met him at the door. Placing the lead onto the halter he rubbed his nose gently. "Hey there now, playtime is over now time to work alright." He said then pulling the colt forward where he would meet Carlos Sanchez the jockey to ride this Radiance son.

The colt was eager to get out there while he was entered in the Y12 Breeders Cup Prospect show running up against quite the competitors including Bowen Acres own Just a Song. He was also up against Intrepid's racing Inc.'s Samhain and Acantha along with more other yearlings, Optimus Unstoppable, Wicca, Whispering Melody, and Dare to Impress. Garrett had to get the colt ready for this event as it was the breeders cup. His sire won it on his own turf and now the son would enter it. Radiation was snorting in the event of seeing the dirt track. He was going to be racing in the full leg races next year where he would show his true potential.

Garrett noticed Carlos and waved walking Radiation close behind him. "Alright so, he's a little chipper this morning being he is a playful one. We are just going to walk him out onto the track and see how he does." He said then placing the saddle on the colts back as it was maybe his second time with the thing on his back. Garrett was just gonna have Radiation get the feel of the dirt track below his hooves he wasn't going to be ridden but, a glaze through the distance track would be quite affectionate for the Radiance Colt.

"He's up against great yearlings Garrett I can't wait to actually ride him and see what he has." Carlos said taking the reins from Garrett as he then speed walked Therapy onto the track. The colt just had some new shoes placed and so he had to walk them out so he would get used to the feel. Radiation of course bobbed his head wanting to play as usual as he was still quite immature a mere child if he were human. Carlos managed to control him with a few whistles and clicks with his tongue and Radiation began to see what they were doing. The colt heard some birds and nickered slightly stopping raising his head quickly. "It's just some birds Radi, come on focus bud." He said rubbing the colt's neck gently.

He walked back and forth along the home stretch of the track in a large rectangle like form. Garrett watched from the side-lines as he then walked out onto the track and started to walk alongside Radiation Therapy. He was making sure his walking stride was normal and that his knees were healthy. He placed his hand on his shoulders as they were walking and he felt the warmth of the dark bay colt and held a grin. He then had Carlos stop Radiation Therapy and he grabbed a hold of the reins. "Ah Carlos he's going to be just fine. It doesn't matter what place he comes in we have next year and the year after that. We just have to make sure he doesn't go out there injured or ill." He said petting the horse before walking him off the track.

"Good boy Radiation, you and I have a lot of work to do uh." He said then fed the colt some oats and then a carrot before walking him back to the stalls. The clinging sound his hooves made on the concrete were like music in these stables. He then tied the colt outside of the stables and took off his stable before pouring some water into a bucket and grabbing a sponge. The horse needed to be cleaned he loved to roll in his grass in his stall that cleaning him was more often then later. He washed the colt who seemed to love the attention raising his head with a whinny after he demanded more.

Garrett chuckled to his giant friend as he came to dry Radiation off to see him all new and shiny. Garrett then brushed the colt to get the after effects of the wash off. "See all the attention you need." He said before walking him back into the stables and placing him in his stall. Remi, the Radiance Filly seemed to attend to her brother's attention. Garrett reached over to pet the filly on the nose before grabbing a blanket and placing it over the colt. It seemed to be cold these passed few days so he made sure all the horses were well fed and warm for the nights to come. He then closed the door and locked it heading back inside the farmhouse to wait until tomorrow.
