GS SUPER CHARGED Ridden by Chris Stevens
February Workout
February Workout
Chris was set to have GS Super Charged sit out for the month of February because of a feeling in his leg that then just healed within a week. Now the colt would be racing in the Palfrey Stakes in the last week of February and at the moment he would be up against Mini Monstorm another grade 5 who was a filly. Ben didn't care for the gender out there on the tracks he did what he wanted and would get the job done with remorse.
The bay colt seemed to be filling out now these days his shoulder muscles seeming wonderful. He was a year older and would gain his best this year or at least try. With his saddle already on his back the colt padded the ground to his mortal friend and wouldn't remain still while he waited. Chris, the jockey and his owner shook his head at the horse knowing this horse's actions ever since Angela had brought him to the stables.
Chris took the lead rope and took Ben for a little walk looking down at his leg for any problems. Angela then came to visit and she looked at the two and walked right next to Chris. "The Kentucky Derby is coming up soon do you think Ben will be ready? Angela said looking at the horse walk normally. She was hoping this colt would at least have a spot in this race and so they did enter him in the last week of February so he could keep up his detail.
"Trust me Angie Ben will be more then ready. We can't doubt him he's a horse he was born to run and if he loses then he does he loves to run no matter which position he comes in at least he tries to gain the opportunity to come in first." He said then jumped onto Ben's back and urged the colt into a trot onto the turf track so he could get a feel of the grass under him. Ben nickered under his breath and today he wasn't so active with his aggression and acted like a mere gentleman which was rare for this horse.
He then took off on his own down the back stretch going at normal pace until the half point of the stretch before picking up speed to do what he was trained to do. The horse gained his strides and with each furlong towards the end Ben took off like a tremendous machine but, Chris had worries for the triple crown races. There would be strong more experienced runners in the race but, this horse had triple crown blood running through his veins and he had the potential.
Coming along the final turn Ben took off with a much more faster pace racing towards the wire liked a very spooked horse running for his life. Ben surely was flying down this practice track like he owned it however the race track was different it would have more opponents and when GS Super Charged passed the wire Chris urged him into a slow stop before letting him breath out normally. "Good run boy. Come on Ben let's get you back into the stables." Chris said walking him off the track and headed back to the stables as Ben raised his head lightly looking towards the direction. This workout was a good one Chris felt Ben was ready.
