PASSION HEART Ridden by Terri Lane
January Workout

January was here and it was time to workout But, things had gotten interesting when Terri Lane suggested that she could workout Passion Heart with him and Ruler's Secret. Ah yes the two siblings were quite capable to workout together but, one had more fire then the other. "Mind if we join you Lawrence? It would be a good run." Terri said guiding the filly onto the track next to her dear older brother.

Lawrence smiled towards it a shrugged his shoulders while holding onto the reins in a proper position. Ruler's Secret made it to Grade 5 status last year and this year he would be entering more races. The colt was a gentle one compared to his sister who had a nasty behavior. Lawrence guided his stallion forward to a trot and Terri guided her filly slowly after but, with Passion's stubborn quality Passion immediately wanted to go into the lead.

"How bout we just have a clean work out Terr I don't want Ru to overdue himself before the big race." He said then urged his stallion to a gallop into the back stretch but, it wasn't long until Terri and Passion Heart caught up to them with no problem. Both of these horses were front runners but, Ruler's Secret had more experience then his sister even if the filly ran more races. Secret was a sneaky horse indeed and with this workout he would be ready.

The two horses raced each other along the back stretch giving it all they had but, Ru had Passion on the inside while he challenged her to push harder. Terri held onto the reins of Passion Heart while she took off after her brother with an angry snort in her breathing. Passion was now a three year old which meant she was out of her teenage structures. She would follow her brothers steps but, as Ruler Secret held an injury in his early career he still put on a good show.

Lawrence waived his whip passed the withers Ruler's Secret picked up more pace coming along the turn of the track as the horse moved his head to face his sister beside him. Ruler pushed her faster into the last turn as he then took off within the home stretch only Passion to be right on his side but a nose back in length. Passing the Wire Ruler came to a slow trot as Passion became irritated to stop running.

Lawrence only came to laugh at the results but, gave the filly credit. "You'll do better this year Terri. Passion has the fire in her heart I don't even want to ride that horse." He said before pulling off the goggles off his eyes. He patted Ru to praise him for his good work. Terri leaned down to hug the filly that generally wouldn't allow. Passion Heart bobbed her head wanting to continue on with the run but, Terri didn't want to wear her down either.

Passion had a long break the rest of her two year old season. She would be fully rested for this race to come. Passion Heart was set to race in the January Turf Maiden on Green Horse Fields. This was her comeback as a three year old. As for Ruler's Secret, he was set to race in the Ameliorate Stakes on The Wire. This workout was for both horses to get worked up for this month. The two walked the siblings back to their stalls to rest for the race.
